The tides were turned on me for a day and those of you that know me well know very well that I prefer to be the one behind the camera vs. in front of it!!! I think it is really good for me to get on the other side from time to time to put myself in my client’s shoes.
I feel so lucky to have met Chris Wilson at WPPI/ShowIt United in Las Vegas this past February. I happened to meet him through my friend and fellow photographer Liz who I was there with for the week. He had mentioned that he was doing these promotional videos for photographers and was looking to expand his portfolio and work with some photographers in the Phoenix area. I jumped on the opportunity and felt it was a great step for potential clients to see me in action, working with children and babies, and add a baby photographer to Chris’ portfolio in hopes to help this part of his photography business bloom.
We set our first day of shooting up for a Friday in March. The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful and we got started promptly at 8am! Easton jumping out of bed, running to the bathroom to brush his teeth, then changing clothes. We then went outside and planted some new flowers in our garden, which Yes….is something that Easton and I do regularly. We end up with quite the garden by the end of summer between our flowers, herbs, fruit and veggies. It doesn’t yield much fruit but it’s something that we enjoy doing together which is why it was important for people to see us doing that.
After a quick drop off at daycare for Easton, I was joined by Deb and her gorgeous little newborn Madi. We shot for about two hours and with five of us in my little studio we were all sweating pretty good by the end of the two hours with my little heater on to keep Madi warm. She did amazingly well and we got some cute shots of her while Chris shot videos of me shooting.
After Madi left we moved into some family fun when Larry, my hubby joined us for some fun bike riding and swinging at the park then off to the trail for a little hiking. It was an exhausting day and only Day 1. We still had a child session to go!
Thank you Chris and Cayla, our assistant, for spending the day with us and capturing my two passions, my family and babies 🙂
