I was so excited when my dear friend Ashley asked if I would be in the delivery room with her as they welcomed their second baby girl into the world. I have never photographed a birth before but told her I would love to be there for her and capture those first sweet images of their baby. After a big scare after her delivery with their first daughter this time around everyone was on high alert and really doing everything to make Ashley feel at ease and comfortable. I have to say that the nurses and staff at Banner Gateway were simply amazing and her doctor Dr. Bollero of New Beginnings was just incredible.
It makes it a bit easier that the doctors decided to induce labor on a Saturday night. I got a message from her on Sunday morning at about 4:30 am that she was progressing and the nurse seemed to think that it may be a quick delivery so I may want to head their way. Aparently little Monroe wasn’t in a huge hurry to come into the world.
By 11:30 she had finally had her water broken and was over half way there. I thought to myself, “Oh, she is only 6 cm. dilated, she has some time I’ll just get out of the room for a few minutes and catch up on blogging.” As I was sitting in the waiting room working on this blog post not more than 15 minutes later I get a PHONE CALL from Ashley with a frantic…”This baby is coming where are you?”. I threw my laptop in the bag and rushed back in the room.
Monroe came into the world at 11:57 am with so many loving people around her. Ashley was a perfect patient and of course looked gorgeous throughout the entire process. Monroe was so alert from the get go and kept staring at her mom from the second she was put on her chest. It was such an amazing experience for me to capture. I was crying like a baby along with Ashley, her mom and sister at the first sight of a beautiful miracle.
Welcome to the world baby Monroe Elizabeth Blunt.
